Our feet are responsible for supporting our body weight as we walk, run, and perform exercises. We have dedicated a month to your feet and today we want to focus on a condition that affects the function of the foot: plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis presents as microtearing in the ligamentous tissue that connects the heel to the toes. The structural damage produces pain located within the sole of the foot. This condition can be caused by sudden increases in exercise activity and shoes without adequate arch support. A strategy of prevention for plantar fasciitis is performing the wedge stretch. We have included images demonstrating this stretch down below. Please check with your physician to see if the wedge stretch is safe for you. We hope your feet stay healthy and safe!
